The Queen of Hearts is love made wise. She nourishes, protects, and tends without disappearing. Her compassion includes herself. She is a sanctuary, warm, steady, sincere.
In practice, sanctuary asks me to create safety without sacrificing myself to maintain it. I can listen without absorbing, comfort without rescuing, and care without making another person’s needs the measure of my worth. I make room for honesty, including my own. My boundaries are not walls around love; they are part of what makes love trustworthy.
I do not have to exhaust myself to prove that I care. I can close the door when I need rest, ask for care when I need tending, and protect the peace I offer to others by extending that same peace to myself.
Sanctuary is not endless availability. It is a place where love can dwell safely. I can be that place for others because I have learned to be that place for myself.
