SCIENCE REALM · FALL · AIR
Playing Card: D-3, The Three of Diamonds
Opening Image / Sensation
My cut-off game is S-tier, and the S is for Scissors.
The Scissors mark the stretch on The Path to Unpunishable where the work becomes sharper and more dangerous. The first part of the path is about readiness. It is about noticing patterns, untangling internalized voices, and preparing the mind for what comes next. That work matters. It is necessary. But it is not the hard part yet.
Here, preparation gives way to action.
That shift changes the terrain. Once you begin acting differently, once you make your boundaries visible, the people and systems that benefited from your silence or compliance begin to push back. Emotional, mental, and spiritual protection stops being theoretical and becomes survival skills you must actively develop. The Scissors is not about cruelty. It is about precision, timing, and the willingness to cut cleanly.
Why This Card Matters
This card matters because this is the line in the sand. This is where you decide what is acceptable and what is not when it comes to access to you. This is not necessarily “no contact”, not yet, but it is the clear establishment that no contact is an option, and that you will not be shamed or guilted out of protecting yourself.
At this stage, it is vital to distinguish between silence used as punishment and silence used as an ending.
Punishment silence is the silent treatment, meant to force compliance. Ending silence is calm, cordial, and firm. It restricts access without hostility. It reminds others, gently and consistently, that their reach no longer extends where and as far as it once did.
If you cut someone off, that cut must be complete. Their name is not in your mouth. You do not check their socials. You do not ask mutuals how they are doing or whether they mentioned you. If someone asks you for information, first determine whether they actually need it. Then respond accordingly, or not at all.
The goal is peace. If the person you have cut off sends others to harass you or extract information, that behavior may justify further restrictions on access.
If you choose to cut someone off, clarity matters. Naming what was violated in calm, clean language is essential, even if it takes time to reach that clarity. That time will serve you well.
Some will say, “People will leave,” or “I cannot afford to lose my friends.” That fear is real, and it is also your path. The Scissors asks one question above all others.
Are you not making the cuts because it truly is not that bad, or because you are afraid of being alone?
Personal Story
2024 through 2025 was spent sharpening my scissors.
Each cut hurt. Each cut mattered. This includes, but not limited to:
- The girl who thought she could set me up in exchange for a job promotion, then got angry when I refused to meet for drinks so she could pump me for information. This had happened before. What I shared with her traveled back to me through people I had never met before.
(cantrip: “My words always return to me, and tell of their journey”)
snip - The man who took advantage of my vulnerability and used it to feed his narcissism. The San Antonio Boys should have warned him that there is a direct connection between messing with me and things going very wrong. Whether he or they ever made that connection is not my concern.
(cantrip: “Bad things happen to those that fuck with me”)
snip - The couple who believed proximity to me would solve their financial problems. They were not prepared for the double cross, even though no one they knew had ever benefited from that approach. That detail was likely withheld so they would agree to it.
(cantrip: “No matter what they threaten you with, I hit worse”)
snip - The couple who treated me as an endless supply of healing and validation, with no regard for the cost to me or those I love. It never occurred to them that their endless need came from wounds that required real healing. Exposing those wounds to truth and fresh air tends to help with that.
(cantrip: “Your inner demons yearn to be ruled by me”)
snip - The man who believed that removing younger competition would make it his turn. He made the same mistake as the one before him. He cared more about optics than wisdom, and power does not respect that choice.
(cantrip: “I loathe cowardice” and “If you cannot wield power, you will not have it”)
snip - The man who treated my wisdom as a renewable resource to be traded for social currency. When I asked for truth in exchange for continued access, he attempted to manipulate those I love. When that failed, he threatened me with the scissors. I called his bluff.
(cantrip: “My children will smash heads and break things until I know the Truth”)
snip - The girl who fought to be in the room where it happens, unaware that entry requires building the house first.
(cantrip: “She’s harmless”)
snip - I deleted my Facebook, a record of my mission and my growth, but also a direct line of access to me. Too many people used it to drain my peace. I was relieved to no longer be responsible for their access.
(cantrip: “You will not listen, so you will have to hurt”)
snip
Each snip made my bones burn. I grieved every one of them. In time, rest came easier. Stress loosened its grip. Sleep improved, even with night terrors. Joy returned slowly, then steadily.
Lens Overlay
Empathy, Truth, Kindness, Joy, Anti-Greed
Empathy allows you to recognize that people act from their wounds without requiring you to remain available to them. You can understand without sacrificing yourself.
Truth insists that some ties are not neutral. They constrict. They drain. They cost more than they give.
Kindness reframes cutting as care. Cutting a thread cleanly prevents infection. It stops slow damage. It protects what must heal. for you and them
Anti-Greed guards against relationships built on extraction. It refuses the belief that access to you is something others are entitled to consume endlessly.
Joy arrives quietly after the cut. It fills the space where tension once lived. It reminds you that relief is not selfish. It is a signal that something harmful has ended.
What the Card Teaches the Listener
The Scissors teaches discernment. Not every situation calls for fire. Not every ending needs spectacle. Precision matters more than force.
This card teaches that boundaries are actions, not declarations. They are enforced through consistency, not explanation. You do not need permission to protect your time, your energy, or your spirit.
It also teaches patience. You may need time before you can articulate what was violated. That does not invalidate the cut. Silence can be part of the process when it is chosen intentionally.
The Scissors reminds you that fear of loneliness is not the same as love. Staying connected out of fear will cost you more than leaving ever could.
Most of all, this card teaches that peace is maintained, not discovered. It is the result of repeated, careful cuts made in service of your future.
The Path to Unpunishable
On The Path to Unpunishable, The Scissors marks the transition from inner clarity to external consequence. You are no longer only noticing patterns. You are interrupting them.
This is where punishment culture becomes visible. Systems and people react when they lose access. They escalate. They test. They attempt to shame you back into place.
The Scissors is your refusal.
While those who are cut will act as if it’s the end of the world, remember the Scissors does not ask you to destroy. It asks you to choose. It asks you to stop negotiating with harm. Each clean cut strengthens your capacity to walk forward without dragging old wounds behind you.
Closing Image / Blessing
Picture a thread pulled tight across your chest, cutting into breath and bone. Now imagine scissors closing once, clean and decisive. The tension releases. Your lungs fill. Your shoulders drop.
Bless the hands that cut. Bless the courage that steadied them. Bless the grief that followed, and the relief that came after.
May your cuts be clean.
May your silence be chosen.
May your peace be protected.
