S-6 / MYTH / ENCOUNTER /INTERFERENCE FIELD/ THREAT ENGINE
Interference Field
Card Name: Interference Field
Realm: Science
Suit Meaning: Mind, struggle, calculation, shadow work, truth, and discernment.
Number Meaning: Harmony, restoration, reciprocity, repair, and the return of a sustaining rhythm.
One Word Summary: Crossing
One Sentence Summary: Crossing invites me to move toward peace, one deliberate step at a time, without requiring myself to be completely healed before I begin.
Hunter Interpretation:
Something is interfering with the Hunter’s connection to their abilities.
Signals distort. Powers hesitate. Equipment gives contradictory readings. A familiar ability produces an unfamiliar result. What normally comes naturally suddenly requires concentration, improvisation, or another route entirely.
The instinct may be to stop.
Fix the equipment. Find the source. Restore the power. Understand exactly what has gone wrong before moving another step.
But that may not be the mission.
Interference Field asks whether the Hunter can continue while something remains unresolved.
The experienced Hunter determines what is actually necessary to cross the affected area. They adjust. They communicate. They use mundane skills when supernatural ones fail. They rely on teammates differently. They accept reduced capacity without confusing it with helplessness.
Most importantly, they keep moving.
Crossing does not require the Hunter to restore everything to the way it was before. Sometimes the old rhythm does not return. Sometimes a different rhythm emerges on the other side.
The question is not:
“How do I make everything work again?”
It is:
“What still works, and how do I use it to get from here to there?”
Stabby Gameplay Effect
Abilities Misfire: While inside the Interference Field, abilities may fail, produce reduced effects, behave unpredictably, or require an alternate approach.
The field does not necessarily need to be neutralized for the encounter to succeed.
Hunters must determine which abilities are essential to reaching the objective and which failures can simply be worked around. Mundane actions, teamwork, alternate abilities, equipment, or a different route may allow the Hunt to continue.
Do not spend the entire encounter trying to restore perfect conditions.
Success means crossing the field, not fixing it.
